With more than 1,200 employees and an estimated $11.1 billion in billings in the U.S., Starcom USA helps get the right consumers’ attention and delivers brand-building results for many of the world’s leading companies. Starcom USA is part of Publicis Groupe, the world’s third largest communications group.

NELSON provided full scope interior design services for Starcom MediaVest’s Downtown Chicago office. The world-renowned communications agency wanted their existing location to better reflect their vision and evolving culture. NELSON transformed Starcom’s space into one that showcases the agency’s brand and their thoughtful approach to creating human experiences.

The design included an overall space aimed at fostering creativity with ideation zones and large collaborative rooms for brainstorming future communications and “what’s next.” Energy rooms are located for decompressions, relaxation or testing out the latest technologies, supporting the agency’s strategy process. In addition, existing architecture was salvaged including altering some of the space’s office wall fronts with colors and graphics to match the design. This strategic decision was made to maintain environmental consciousness while utilizing less raw materials.

Halfway through the project, additional groups were programed into the new space’s plan. In order to stay current with the client’s evolving needs, NELSON revised the interior design elements by adding new colors, graphics, imagery and fonts that corresponded with the new divisions.

The finished product resulted in an open space that speaks to the company’s culture and vision of shaping the future through meaningful human experiences.
