Scott’s Seafood, an anchor of the downtown San Jose dining scene, needed a refreshed image. The 26-year-old traditional dining house desired an update to attract more of the after-work, happy hour crowd.
Our firm was tasked with creating a new open-air terrace, to expand the bar and dining areas, and to provide space for musical entertainment. The former top level of the 6-story parking garage was transformed with the addition of a 50’ long, illuminated bar of 3form Chroma. The bar wraps around the two street-front sides of the terrace and changes color to reflect the changing night sky. A stone-clad fireplace wall provides a gathering space as the air chills, and night sets in. The new terrace seats an additional 90 people for alfresco dining and capitalizes on the surrounding views of the San Jose skyline and the foothills. The glowing edge of the bar, visible below at street level, attracts the interest of passers-by.
The reinvented Scott’s Seafood is enjoying a notable uptick in business and is a destination for many seeking fresh air, fire, and breathtaking views along with their libations!
