NELSON is working in collaboration with Perkins Eastman Architects to design a new 100,000 square foot School of Nursing and Sciences facility for Rutgers University, Camden, NJ campus. The selected site for the new building sits outside of the traditional Camden campus boundaries and faces the new City Hall plaza. Features include new, state-of-the-art teaching facilities, biology and physics labs, and a “flex-lab” to provide cross-discipline utilization. A Nursing Skills, Health Assessment, and Simulation suite provides needed active hands-on learning spaces for the nursing department to foster real-life skill sets for these students. In addition to the traditional teaching spaces, case study and SCALE UP (Student Centered Active Learning Environments with Upside down Pedagogies) collaboration areas areinterspersed throughout the facility to allow casual student-to-student interactions andto foster a more dynamic learning environment.
