Currently, NELSON is providing on-call design services for Nielsen offices globally, the world’s leading provider of marketing information, audience measurement, and business media products and services. Various Nielsen business divisions operate from approximately 7 million square feet of space across 92 countries.
During our relationship, there have been organizational changes to transition Nielson from a private company to a public company. These changes, coupled with a tight economy, directly affected Nielsen’s real estate strategy and work environment. The company was also struggling with their space standards. The global brand was in need of space standards that promoted collaboration and allowed for variations to adhere to cultural shifts.
NELSON was also challenged to roll out significant projects around the globe while maintaining consistent delivery. For example, NELSON has completed projects in France, England, Singapore, New Zealand, Mumbai Russia, Kenya, Costa Rica and Bucharest.
In order to deal with the organizational shifts, NELSON developed an approach to synchronized project delivery that supported a reduced occupancy strategy. Our efforts align the new organization’s goals with lower cost spaces and higher branding recognition, while supporting the evolving culture with the redesign of office spaces that utilize new space and design standards and mobility programs.
NELSON worked with Nielsen to develop new space standards which are designed for flexibility with added team/meeting/support spaces that encourage more interaction and teaming. A new color palette and furniture selection supports the goal of reducing footprint while creating a more contemporary space. These standards will be implemented consistently in future facilities across the US and will inspire standards in Europe and Asia. The global brand is introduced in a variety of manners from still and moving imagery, which can be customized regionally, to the textured, modern nature of the architectural envelope.
To maintain consistency across all projects, a centralized NELSON core team manages the work. If a NELSON location is not available where service is required, the team partners with and supervises local design firms to provide on-the-ground expertise for code analysis and field verification.
