Seeking a fresh approach to the design of their new Louisville, Kentucky location, Computershare selected NELSON to provide interior design services for their new office space. As a global financial services and technology firm with over 14,000 employees and 90 offices around the world, Computershare chose this location to expand into Louisville’s thriving labor market as well as consolidate their national call center operations. The NELSON team drew upon its call center design expertise and worked closely with Computershare to come up with a “Connection, Contrast and Collaboration” concept to drive the ultimate design solution for the space.
With the primary employee function for this location utilizing “heads down” space for placing calls, the design team focused on creative use of amenity spaces to support a balance of work and social settings throughout the office. Common areas include a reception space and adjacent HR conference center that welcome visitors with daylight and panoramic city views; expansive pantry/break areas on each floor that encourage gathering and collaboration; and several private phone rooms that can accommodate personal calls and conversations for employees in this largely open layout.
To tie these spaces together, the design team used Computershare’s global presence and brand as a unifying thread. NELSON designed and installed large-format environmental graphics throughout the office that represent some of the company’s key locations around the globe. A cut vinyl graphic that wraps around the core of the office emphasizes the theme of “connection” throughout each floor.
The NELSON team was challenged to deliver a high-design aesthetic and sophisticated planning solution within strict budgetary and schedule limitations. The team committed to meet Computershare’s needs by successfully implementing an ultra-fast track delivery schedule, with the second phase of work due to complete in October of 2015. This accelerated approach has given Computershare a dynamic new presence within a remarkably short timeframe, and an exciting new design direction for future locations.
