Portola Australasia Becomes Strategic Partner with NELSON

Firms Expand Regional Operations and Global Service Offerings

PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 8, 2007) -- Portola Australasia has partnered with NELSON, an international architecture, interior design, strategies, workplace services, engineering and information services firm.  The partnership will allow both companies to pursue new business opportunities to provide seamless, consistent solutions both in the Asia / Pacific region and around the world.

Formed in May 2004 and based in Melbourne with a US subsidiary in San Francisco, Portola Australasia specializes in consultancy, facility planning, workplace solutions, architectural programming and project delivery.  NELSON, currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary in the industry, focuses on similar areas with its unique model of six integrated lines of business, 35 locations and more than 500 Teammates around the world.  This global reach and corporate infrastructure will allow NELSON to contribute additional services and personnel to Portola’s existing clients.  In return, Portola provides "on the ground" resources and expertise in the Asia / Pacific region.

“This partnership is a perfect fit for both NELSON’s and Portola Australasia’s strategic growth plans, and it is a true reflection of our common business philosophy,” said John “Ozzie” Nelson, Jr., President and CEO of NELSON.  “The consolidation of smart, creative firms is going to be one of the keys to success in the future of our industry.  We must be able to provide our full line of services to our multinational clients wherever they are across the globe, and also have regional strength to capitalize on the growing number of local opportunities.  The leaders of Portola Australasia  and NELSON will help ensure our success on both fronts.”

NELSON was formed in 1977 by John Nelson, Sr. as an interior design firm.  Since that time, the company has grown to an integrated services firm offering six lines of business: strategic planning, interior design, architecture, engineering, workplace services and information services.  NELSON now has more than 500 Teammates in 35 locations around the world, with revenues of more than $50 million.  With strong experience in a broad range of industries, NELSON works with more than 20 percent of companies in the Fortune 100 and is ranked by Interior Design Magazine among the top two firms providing corporate / office design services.  The firm also specializes in the residential / multi-family housing market.  For more information about NELSON, visit www.nelsononline.com.
