NELSON Announces Merger with Furnstahl & Simon Architects

NELSON has merged with New York-based Furnstahl & Simon Architects, LLC. Operating under the NELSON name and brand, together the firms will provide strategic and creative solutions to clients in the New York area while also adding resources to NELSON’s global service capabilities.

Individually the firms enjoy excellent reputations for quality work with a focus on interior spaces. Furnstahl & Simon Architects opened its doors 24 years ago and provides expertise in facilities for corporations, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. NELSON, currently celebrating its 30^th Anniversary in the industry, focuses on similar areas with its unique model of six integrated lines of business, 36 locations, including offices in New York and Newark, NJ, and almost 600 Teammates around the world. This global reach and corporate infrastructure will bring expanded services to Furnstahl & Simon Architects’ existing client bases. The firms will immediately begin working together to provide local resources to creatively address new projects of all sizes and scopes in the New York area.

Local leadership will be provided by Randi Simon, AIA, a partner in Furnstahl & Simon Architects. She will serve as Managing Directors for the New York organization and will be supported by members of the existing management team, including Stephen Furnstahl and Joseph Bernard. “There is tremendous operational synergy between our firms and a sense of excitement among our Teammates to begin working together,” said Simon. “Clients will experience a seamless transition but will immediately begin to benefit from access to additional talent, experience and resources.”

The New York team will include almost 75 professionals and will begin generating annual revenue of approximately $10 million on the first day of its operations. A sample of clients includes Bank of America, MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, Citi Group, 1199SEIU, New York Life and the United Federation of Teachers.
