Gogo “In Flight” in the Windy City

Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO), the world’s leading provider of in-flight connectivity, has moved into its new downtown Chicago digs. Designed by NELSON, the corporate office move is one of the largest in Chicago to date. The new 225,204 square foot headquarters of the 2015 Crain’s Fast Fifty 12th ranked company will house more than 700 employees in the top four floors of 111 N. Canal St.

In partnering with Gogo, NELSON had the opportunity to turn the massive 111 N. floorplate into the workplace equivalent of the runway – with Gogo ready to takeoff…or to continue to encourage their growth and flexibility. The result is a highly branded design solution that fits Gogo’s culture and style.

“The goal of the design was to introduce a space that positively impacted productivity and accommodated staff while bringing awareness to the Gogo brand throughout,” said Andrea Brandt, Senior Project Manager and Principal of the NELSON Chicago office. “We made it our goal to deliver an aesthetically pleasing workplace that encompassed all of the client’s needs including the reflection of domestic and international expansion, improvement of quality service, and Gogo’s evolution of customer usage needs.”

The new design increases the engagement of Gogo employees, and employee productivity and engagement is expected to increase. The space promotes the Gogo branding both strong statements and subtle design elements – everything from First Class passenger seating for demos and screenings to corridors inspired by an airport runway.

A better work environment improves quality of service, and this environment will support the evolution of the response to customer usage and needs for years to come. The space goes beyond what you typically find in an office – labs, shield rooms, demo rooms, screening and event space are all featured in the design.
