AIS Boston Showroom
After achieving critical acclaim for their showroom space at NeoCon 2015, AIS, a leading furniture manufacturer based in Western Massachusetts, wanted to establish a more urban presence for themselves in the heart of Boston. Influenced by the industrial feel of the neighborhood, the design team created “The AIS Loft” concept, preserving the rustic feel of the building and exposing its raw architecture.

Embracing the abundant light shining through the warehouse windows, using a combination of natural elements to reflect the AIS sustainable story, and recycling items from their furniture factories, the design team created an open office showroom highlighting various areas for collaboration and workstation options. The reception area is anchored with a custom front desk, a structural beam from an old Maine barn forms the custom pendant lighting above, and an AIS factory welding robot was repurposed as an artful sculptural display welcoming the idea that “Anything is possible with AIS.”

A mix of reclaimed barn wood wall, natural curved wood flooring, and other industrial finishes create a warm palette of neutral colors that are energized by a flowy copper mesh drapery wall that pays homage to Boston’s iconic bricks and cobblestone. The result is an inviting urban loft that the client says “it is their most comfortable, relaxing and cozy showroom!”
